The operational loop

Fight in the field. Rebuild at the Den. Advance the Cycle.

Zero Company alternates tactical missions with company management aboard the Den. Completing a Tactical Mission moves time forward, while the space between missions is where you recruit, equip, explore, and spend Intel on Operations.

That makes preparation part of the campaign, not a separate menu chore. Check the Den before committing to the next mission, especially when an Operation is close to expiring.

Build the company

Roles first. Tier lists later.

The launch materials define eight standard specializations and their tactical jobs, but they do not prove a universal best class. Start with the role your squad lacks, then use the cast note for the officially attributed Hawks performances.

First-session protocol

Six habits that make the opening hours clearer

  1. Spend the whole turn deliberately

Each Operator gets three Action Points. Check movement, attack, and ability options before committing the final point.

  2. Treat cover as a starting condition

Plan the destination before the attack. An exposed finish can undo a strong opening move.

  3. Set reactions before enemies move

Backup and Overwatch turn positioning into value during the opposing turn.

  4. Spend Advantage with intent

Advantage is shared and special actions do not consume Action Points, so save it for the turn that changes the fight.

  5. Check the Den before a mission

Recruitment, equipment, exploration, and Operations all live between tactical deployments.

  6. Read objectives before chasing enemies

The mission objective defines success; clearing every target is not always the same task.

Launch answers

Questions players ask before committing

01Is STAR WARS Zero Company a new game?

Yes. It released on August 27, 2026. It is a new single-player turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars, not a remaster of an older title.

02Does it have multiplayer or co-op?

No. EA's platform guide describes the game as single-player and says it does not support online multiplayer or co-op.

03How long is the main story?

The developer estimate is 30 to 40 hours. Difficulty, tactics experience, and time spent managing the company can move an individual run within that range.

04Is permadeath mandatory?

No. Permadeath is enabled by default, but it can be turned off. Difficulty settings can be changed outside combat.

05Which platforms are confirmed?

The confirmed launch platforms are PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The approved official Q&A did not announce Switch or Steam Deck versions.

06Is there a universally best class?

The approved official materials explain roles, not a universal winner. The safest starting choice is the specialization that covers a missing squad function.

Ready for deployment?

Start with the combat loop, then let the campaign teach the exceptions.
