Choose Sharpshooter when the map offers stable long-range lanes and the squad can protect an Operator who becomes stronger by holding position.

Sharpshooter abilities
| Ability | Type | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| Precision Shot | Ultimate | Always hits. Reserve it for a shot whose reliability matters more than saving the Ultimate. |
| Zero In | Standard | Builds Lethal stacks that improve hit and critical potential. Moving or being knocked back removes the setup. |
| Pick Them Off | Passive | Improves Overwatch hit chance and damage, strengthening controlled firing lanes. |
| Sharpshooter Training | Passive | Improves blaster hit chance across the role's normal attacks. |
Secure the firing position first
Zero In creates a simple rule: positioning is part of the build.
- Find a lane with range, cover, and a useful view of the objective.
- Check which enemies can push, flank, or knock the Operator from it.
- Let frontline allies control those threats.
- Build Lethal only when the position is likely to remain valid.
- Use Overwatch when enemy movement is more valuable to punish than an immediate low-value shot.
Weapon pairing
EA's long-range recommendation is direct: pair Sharpshooter with the Longarm Blaster. The weapon uses two Action Points per primary attack, but offers long range and the highest listed base and critical damage among the four official classes.
That cost leaves little room for movement. Read the exact comparison in the Weapon Class guide and move before committing to the firing turn.
Good squad partners
- Heavy: attracts pressure and protects the stable firing lane.
- Scout: applies Spotted so range and smoke penalties do not waste the shot.
- Assault: pushes enemies out of cover for a clean angle.
- Scoundrel: can prepare a guaranteed critical on the priority target.
Common mistakes
- Building Zero In in a lane that will become irrelevant when the objective moves.
- Ignoring enemies with displacement tools that can erase the setup.
- Spending two Action Points on a low-priority target and having no useful final action.
- Treating Precision Shot as a routine damage button when its guaranteed hit can secure an objective-critical result.
Sharpshooter pays off planning done before the trigger pull. The class is less about standing far away than about making one stable lane control the battle.
