Choose Soldier when you need a dependable offensive role that can shift among blaster fire, grenades, melee pressure, and area damage as the map changes.
Soldier abilities
| Ability | Type | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| Rocket Strike | Ultimate | Launches an area attack. Use it when the blast affects several relevant enemies or clears pressure around an objective. |
| Brutal Strike | Standard | Rushes into melee and applies Daze. A Dazed enemy later gains Stun Resistance, so plan the control sequence rather than repeating it blindly. |
| Strength | Passive | Improves melee damage and grenade throw range. |
| Armsmaster | Passive | Improves primary-blaster and grenade damage. |
A flexible turn still needs one purpose
Soldier has many tools, but mixing them without a priority can waste the role's advantage.
- Decide whether the turn is about a group, a priority target, or the objective.
- Use Rocket Strike or a grenade when the area value is real.
- Use Brutal Strike when closing distance and Daze both matter.
- Use the primary blaster when a straightforward attack preserves the best final position.
- End within the range the next turn will require; do not let a melee rush strand the Operator.
Weapon pairing
EA recommends Soldier with a Blaster Rifle as one of the approachable beginner combinations. Its medium range and straightforward first attack fit the class's adaptable role.
For maximum-damage plans, EA also includes Soldier with a Repeater. That pairing commits more Action Points to firing and leaves less flexibility for grenades, movement, or Brutal Strike. Compare both in the Weapon Class guide.
Good squad partners
- Scout: reveals targets and creates Advantage for the right offensive tool.
- Scoundrel: prepares critical attacks and assists the Soldier's priority hit.
- Medic: uses Combat Stim to improve a two-turn offensive window.
- Heavy: controls pressure while Soldier moves between ranged and close positions.
Common mistakes
- Using an area attack on one weak enemy because the ability is available.
- Applying Daze without considering the target's following Stun Resistance.
- Equipping a Repeater and then expecting enough Action Points for every utility tool.
- Choosing a flashy melee route that abandons cover or the mission objective.
Soldier is the best answer to changing tactical demands, not proof that squad composition no longer matters. Use its flexibility to fill the current gap, then let more specialized allies do the jobs they perform better.
