Core limits: a standard Tactical Mission squad has up to four Operators. Roster capacity starts at seven and can expand to twenty. Hawks is required on story missions, while skirmish squads can use other combinations.

Authored and custom Operators
| Type | What you control | What may be fixed |
|---|---|---|
| Hawks | First name, species, appearance, clothing, Specialization, and more | Must deploy on story missions |
| Authored Operator | Equipment, appearance options, and many progression choices | Identity, story, Talent, and sometimes Specialization |
| Custom Operator | Name, backstory, appearance, clothing, voice, and build direction | Arrives from recruitment with a starting Talent, Specialization, and Weapon Class that can then be adjusted within allowed rules |
The authored roster includes Hawks, Trick, Tel-Rea Vokoss, Cly Kullervo, Luco Bronc, Jae Mordant, and Kabb Uppercut. Custom recruits let you fill mechanical gaps or tell a more player-created company story.
Species and appearance choices
EA's Den deep dive lists these launch options:
- Hawks: Devaronian, Human, Mirialan, Togruta, Twi'lek, and Zabrak.
- Custom Operators: Devaronian, Human, Mirialan, Neimoidian, Ovissian, Rodian, Togruta, Twi'lek, Weequay, and Zabrak.
Species does not grant a weapon-proficiency advantage. Outfits are cosmetic and do not change gameplay. Choose the look you want rather than treating species or clothing as a hidden stat decision.
Clone armor cosmetics are available from the beginning, while recruitable Clone Troopers unlock after a story point. Astromech recruitment arrives early through Den progression. Separatist battle droids are not recruitable Operators.
Build a four-role squad
A balanced starting framework is:
- Frontline control: Assault or Heavy.
- Reliable offense: Soldier, Gunslinger, or Sharpshooter.
- Support or recovery: Medic.
- Information or setup: Scout or Scoundrel.
This is a diagnostic template, not a mandatory lineup. Certain missions allow additional characters, and the objective can justify doubling a role or skipping another.
Customize the build, not only the face
At the Den you can manage:
- standard Specializations and later progression options;
- Talents and Focus upgrades;
- one of four Weapon Classes, modifications, and cosmetic models;
- utilities such as grenades or other mission tools;
- Bond partners and Cross Training;
- armor, clothing, colors, patterns, names, voices, and backstories where supported.
Recruitment and roster planning
The custom-recruit pool refreshes each Cycle and can be refreshed manually. Recruit for a missing role before spending Credits on a near-duplicate. Capacity grows through Den upgrades, story progression, and authored Operators joining the company.
Keep more than one viable four-person group. Injuries, story requirements, Bonds, and optional permadeath can all make a favorite Operator unavailable or too valuable to risk.
The best customized squad is not the one with four individually impressive builds. It is the one whose Action Point costs, ranges, support tools, and Bond pairings still work together on the next objective.
